Description
Magnetic properties of CeSi single crystal were investigated by magnetic susceptibility, high-field magnetization, specific heat and resistivity measurements. Paramagnetic susceptibility follows the Curie-Weiss law with the anisotropic Curie-Weiss temperatures. A clear metamagnetic transition for the b-axis was observed below TN. The saturation moment for the b-axis is 1.7 μB/Ce, while those for both the a- and c-axis are 0.9 μB/Ce. The magnetic entropy at TN was calculated to be R ln 2, which suggests a doublet ground state of the compound. (orig.)
