Structural characterisation of soft magnetic nanostructured alloys using AFM and powder diffraction

Description

Atomic force microscopy (AFM) is used to observe the surface topography in Fe73.5Nb3Cu1Si16.5B6 ribbons, in glassy state and annealed for 1 h at 575 deg. C and 615 deg. C. X-ray diffraction patterns give an increase of 50% in the grain size value. AFM images confirm this increase and show a near fully crystallised surface in both crystallised samples. The degradation of the soft magnetic properties is seen in the hysteresis loops
