Description

The transparent MgAl2O4 ceramics were exposed to electron beam with energy in 1.7 MeV and injection capacity in 6.3 x 1016 cm-2, and were isochronally annealed after irradiation. The optical spectra and the defects of these electron-irradiated samples were studied by UV-VIS and PAT. The investigation indicates that the electron-irradiated Mgal2O4 ceramics introduce two optical-absorption bands at 237 nm and 370 nm, they may be due to V-type color center and F center. All these color centers can be destroyed by annealing
