Investigation into reaction and glass-formation range in ternary Cd-As-S system

Description
An investigation of phase equilibrii in the Cd-As-S system has shown that CdS is in equilibrium with all the phases of the system. Quasi-binary sections of the system are Cd3As2-CdS, CdAs2-CdS, As2S2-CdS, As-CdS, As2S3-CdS. A melting diagram and an isothermic section at 240 deg C are plotted and the area of glass formation based on As2S3 is delimited in the Cd-As-S system. A correlation is established between the kind of the state diagram and the system's ability for glass formation. Several glasses of excellent acoustic and optical characteristics have been obtained
