Study of π+p, K+p, and pp interactions at 100 GeV/c using a hybrid bubble chamber-spark chamber system
Description
This is a study of π+p, K+p, and pp interactions based on a 56,000 picture exposure of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory 30'', hydrogen bubble chamber--wide-gap optical spark chamber hybrid system. This is the highest energy π+p and K+p exposure with good momentum resolution for all tracks of the event. The π+p, K+p, and pp elastic scattering are studied and the results are in good agreement with recent FNAL counter experiments. Low mass diffractive excitation of the beam and target are studied. The multi-particle inclusive data show excellent agreement with the Regge-Mueller theory predictions of factorization and scaling. The shapes of the multiplicity distributions agree well with the Koba, Nielsen, Olesen form of scaling
