Giga watts pulsed power and microwave generation with 2D Bragg feedback

Description
The authors report the design and experimental results of a pulsed power system for generation of GW annular electron beam. The details of the Marx high voltage generator, pulse forming line (PFL), the electron beam generation and the guiding magnetic field are presented. The parameters of the electron beam were chosen to satisfy the requirements for a high power microwave (HPM) source with the novel 2D distributed feedback in order to produce GW power levels of output radiation in the Ka (26.5-40 GHz) frequency band. The experimental results of the microwave transmission characteristics of the 2D Bragg structure and design of the Free Electron Maser experiment (FEM) are also presented
