Muonic atom formation by muon transfer process in C6H6 / C6H12 + CCl4 mixtures

Description

Negative muon transfer process in the mixtures of C6H6 / C6H12 + CCl4 was studied. The muonic Cl X-ray structure of C6H6 + CCl4 mixture sample was similar to that of pure CCl4 sample. However, the muonic Cl X-ray structure of C6H12 + CCl4 mixture sample was different from that of pure CCl4 sample. This result can be explained by assuming that the number of muons transferred to chlorine atoms in C6H6 + CCl4 mixture sample is smaller than that in C6H12 + CCl4 mixture sample. This fact suggests that the muon transfer rate for carbon atoms of C6H6 is higher than that for carbon atoms of C6H12. (author)
