Orbital astrophysical observatory ASTRON. The results of 5 years of operation
Description
ASTRON automatic station was injected into the orbit of the Earth satellite on the 23-d of March, 1983. The station is designed to conduct astrophysical investigations using two tools in ultraviolet and X-ray ranges. The main parameters of the orbit and their evolution under the effect of gravitational disturbances are presented. The main features of on-board systems and scientific equipment set are given, problems concerning station operation control during the investigations are considered. Numerous observations of energy distribution within star spectra are carried out. Spectral line configurations are recorded, radiation fluxes in many emission lines within spectra of extragalactic objects and within spectra of diffusion galactic nebulae are measured. Flares in ultraviolet from UV Cet type red dwarf star are recorded with high time resolution. Numerous spectra of gas coma at different distances from Halley comet nucleous and photometric cuts of comet gas envelope within the hydroxyl line before and after perihelion are obtained
