Nuclear fuel-energetic complex included the BMN-170 reactor and plant for fuel pyre electrochemical reprocessing and vibron-pac fuel rods and fuel assemblies production

Description

Using of compact methods for irradiated fuel reprocessing and fuel rods fabrication allows to establish atomic fuel-energetic complex (AFEC) with of increase safety module fast reactor and the plant of fuel reprocessing and fabrication on the one site. NPP with electric power 500 MW can be formed from three module fast BMN-170 type reactors. The BMN-170 reactor: -is distinguished by the possibility of high parameters steam production; - is made with a 3-circuit scheme of heat transfer; -is made in integral layout with radioactive sodium, which provides the maximum compactness and safety; -at the expense of placing the reactor and safety system below the ground level, the resistance to extreme effects was enhanced. The facility for reprocessing and re fabrication of the BMN-170 MOX fuel is placed on the NPP site and includes 5 models: 1) fuel preparation for pyre;electrochemical reprocessing; 2) pyre-electrochemical reprocessing of irradiated fuel with production of granulated MOX fuel; 3) production and monitoring of vibron-pac fuel rods; 4) production of fuel assemblies; 5) radioactive waste processing, their preparation for disposal, valuable fission products extraction. The scheme of the plant with waste flows identification and required production areas estimation is presented. It is shown that AFEC corresponds to the most strong safety requirements
