Theoretical absolute Raman cross sections in benzene
Description
Applications of earlier theoretical results to the Raman spectrum of benzene have been carried out. Absolute cross section calculations for totally symmetric (asub(1g)) modes agree closely with experimental values. One feature of these calculations is the assumption that the main contributor to off-resonance Raman scattering arises from Franck-Condon overlaps. Remarkable off-resonance effects are caused by interference within completely determined vibrational sums. (orig.)
