Neutron ratemetric level gages

Certain aspects of the development of neutron intensimetric level gages are considered. The best designed level gage is based on the application of the point source of fast neutrons with an extended cylindrical counter of thermal neutrons located above it. Such arrangements of the source and the detector make it possible to ensure the content measurement without the application of moving elements in the range which is determined by the length of the counter and the migration length of neutrons in a medium. The dependence of the counting rate of the recorded neutrons on the level of the medium, its neutron parameters, the parameters of the source and the detector and their mutual arrangement is discussed.
