Performance Comparison of Synchronous Reference Frame-Based PLLs Topologies Under Power Quality Disturbances

  • 1. Islamic Azad University, Department of Engineering, Marvdasht Branch (Iran, Islamic Republic of)

Description

Synchronization with utility networks is crucial for proper operation of grid-connected converters. The most popular method for extracting the phase angle of the grid voltage is phase-locked loop (PLL). In distribution systems, the power quality problems are inevitable. It is beneficial to evaluate the ability of the PLLs in polluted distribution network. In this paper, a survey on some selected PLLs, based on their response to predefined disturbances, is presented. The disturbances are voltage sag, phase jump, frequency jump, imbalanced voltage and harmonics distortion. Simulations carried out in MATLAB software are used to compare the PLLS.
