Measurements of photoelectron angular distributions using a new magnetic angle-changing technique

Description
A new magnetic angle-changing technique is reported for the measurement of angular distributions in photoelectron spectroscopy. This technique employs a localized and shaped magnetic field that allows the angular measurements to be made without any movement of the electron spectrometer. The technique has been used to measure angular distribution parameters for the rare gases over energy regions containing autoionization resonances. The measurements have been made as continuous functions of both photon energy and photoelectron ejection angle, which highlights the dramatic effect of these autoionising resonances on the angular distribution parameter
