Radical-cations of aliphatic amines in freon matrixes

  • 1. M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State Univ.

Description

This paper studies the ESR spectra of samples, gamma-irradiated at -196 C, of MeHN2, Me2NH, and Me3N at various concentrations in the freons CFC13 and CFCL2CF2C1. The study shows that small amounts (about 1%) of trimethylamine in diethyl ether or methylamine, which do not have a significant effect on the spectrum of these substances ta the 1% level in freon at -196 C, become important on warming. Disappearance of the methylamine radical-cations is accompanied by the appearance of intense lines due to Me3N+ radical-cations, well resolved at -120 C
