Problems involved in X-ray diagnosis

Description

Search for the symptoms minimum necessary for identifying osteogenic sarcoma is performed. Biomedical radiography and longitudinal tomography was used in 144 cases, 12 patients of them were exposed to computerized tomography. Longitudinal tomography showed the best results for determining osteogenic sarcoma form. Analysis of radiographic symptoms of osteogenic sarcoma revealed that tumor bone formation was a specific feature of osteogenic sarcoma and it permitted to confirm the osteosarcoma diagnosis. This sign is identified by tomography with the best reliability. Histological investigation should be the final diagnostic procedure in all the cases

Abstract (Russian)

Проведен поиск минимума симптомов, необходимого для распознования остеогенной саркомы. 144 больным была проведена рентгенография, продольная томография, 12 больным - компьютерная томография. Наиболее полные сведения о форме остеогенной саркомы получены с помощью продольной томографии. Анализ рентгенологических симптомов остеогенной саркомы позволил установить, что опухолевое костеобразование не встречается при других видах опухолей костей, позволяет подтвердить диагноз остеогенной саркомы. Этот признак с наибольшей достоверностью выявляется с помощью томографического исследования. Диагностика во всех случаях должна завершаться гистологическим исследованием
