Influence of type and energy of the irradiation on the chemical etching of irradiated cellulose nitrate

Description
The aim of the study was the determination of the influence of radiation type and energy on chemical etching of irradiated cellulose nitrate. Influence of temperature and alkali concentration in solution on the polymer etching rate, when irradiated by 60Co, was investigated as well. The conclusion is made that the cellulose nitrate belongs to polymers, in which radiation energy is absorbed and implemented in chemical reactions at early stages of radiolysis locally along charged particle track
