Balloon observation of galaxy line gamma ray using a Ge(Li) counter

  • 1. Rikkyo Univ., Tokyo (Japan). Faculty of Science

Description

Observation of line gamma-ray has been carried out for the purpose to investigate the distribution of low energy cosmic ray. A Ge(Li) detector will be used for the study, the energy resolving power and the performance of the anticounter of which are improved. Back-ground gamma ray will be suppressed by an anti-counter system with scintillation counters. The signal from the Ge(Li) detector is sorted by a single channel pulse height analyzer, and analyzed by a 2048 channel PHA. The gain drift of amplifiers due to temperature is corrected by a calibration pulser. The observation of line gamma ray is planned with the above mentioned detection system. (Kato, T.)
