Measurement of Carbon-14 in radioactive waste from Kozloduy NPP
- 1. State Enterprise Radioactive Waste (SE RAW), Sofia (Bulgaria)
- 2. Institute for Nuclear Research and Nuclear Energy Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia (Bulgaria)
Description
This paper describes the implementation and validation of a method for determination of C-14 by radiochemical separation and measurement of the prepared sample using ultra low-level liquid scintillation spectrometer Quantulus 1220. The method was applied to samples of radioactive waste (RAW) from systems and equipment subject to decommissioning at Kozloduy nuclear power plant (NPP) units 1-4 with different types of solid matrices. Key words: radioactive waste, 14C, liquid scintillation counting, calibration
