Early warning system in the Czech Republic

Parameters are summarized of some early warning systems (EWN) in EC countries as of 1990. A brief description is given of the current situation in the Czech Republic. The current radiation monitoring network for gamma radiation measurements includes: a network of 13 measuring points of air contamination (MPAC); a network of 202 measuring points with thermoluminescent dosemeters and teledosimetry systems around NPP including more than 20 measuring points. The programme for establishing EWNs in the Czech Republic is under preparation and is divided into 2 phases. In the first phase, to be implemented in 1994, 40 telemetrized places are to be established in professional observatories of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute and in MPACs. In the second phase EWNs will be supplemented with about 30 selected measuring stations of the Automatic Immission Monitoring and measuring points of the Czech Army.
