Description

Systematized are the results of inVestigations on the effect of intrinsic electromagnetic fields of high-current electron beams (HEB) on the tra ectories of their motion. Considered are the problems of HEB interaction with conducting magnetoelectric boundary media and with a plasma. Studies of the electron beam reflection process have been carried out at the high-current nanosecond accelerator ''Tonus'' with the following parameters: beam current equal to 15 kA, electron energy - from 0.6 to 1 MeV. Measurements have shown that at small angles of falling less than 17 deg in the pressure region from p=0.1-0.4 torr, energy spectrum of the beam and the main beam characteristics do not change in the reflection process. On electron beam propagation close to ferro-magnetic surfaces observed is the attraction effect. The attraction effect increases with the decrease of initial distance from the beam, but does not change in dependence on gaseous focusing conditions in the pressure region p=0.1-0.8 torr. At the pressure decrease of p<7x10-2 torr the increase of attraction effect occurs. It follows from the results of the experiment that during electron beam propagation in the vicinity of magnetoelectric media the processes of magnetic and electrostatic interaction are of importance. The force of electrostatic interaction of the beam with magnetodielectrics is comparable with the forces of its magnetic interaction with conducting media. The results presented testify to a possibility of efficient control of the HEB tra ectory using their proper electromagnetic fields
