Carbide precipitation in the heat affected zone of a GTA weld in 21-6-9 stainless steel
Description
Grain boundary precipitation was observed in a multipass GTA weld in 21-6-9 stainless steel. The precipitate was identified by electron diffraction as M23C6-type carbide. The presence of these carbide particles did not cause intergranular attack in standard corrosion tests
