A simple test for flexirubin-type pigments

Description

A new test for flexirubin-type pigments has been developed based on the incorporation of labelled biosynthetic precursors into the pigments and autoradiographic analysis of chromatograms. The test is simple enough to allow the screening of a large number of organisms, and it can be applied directly or in a modified form to discover colorless building blocks or structural variants not easily found with former methods.
