Description
We investigate the properties of pseudoscalar and scalar mesons and the quark condensates at finite density in the context of a generalized three-flavor Nambu--Jona-Lasinio model. As in a previous study of the two-flavor case, the decrease of the scalar-meson mass with increasing density suggests a softening of the nuclear equation of state. The axial U(1) anomaly is not affected by density as signaled by a constant mass of the eta'. We furthermore discuss some properties of the scalar mesons at zero density
