On the relation between the geometric phase and the Schwinger term
Description
In second quantization an m-particle and n-antiparticle state picks up the sum of geometric phases for each individual mode after parallel transport along a closed curve in parameter space. The transport of the vacuum implies in addition the occurrence of a Schwinger term. Depending on the transformation considered various relations between the two types of obstructions result. 6 refs.
