The 'Ukrytie' fuel containing materials physicochemical properties investigations

  • 1. Myizhgaluzevij Naukovo-Tekhnyichnij Tsentr 'Ukrittya' NAN Ukrayini, Chornobil' (Ukraine)

Description

New results on fuel containing materials (FCM) physicochemical properties investigations are presented. Lava-like fuel containing materials (LFCM) main thermal characteristics have been determined. Frequency dispersion of dielectric penetrability of LFCM has been measured. Series of the obtained data show the principle feasibility of the technology of remote-controlled disintegration of LFCM accumulation in the 'Ukrytie' by making use of powerful microwave radiation. Performed investigations into the structure of the LFCM have demonstrated that about 70 % of accessible porosity of some types of LFCM consists of ultra micropores possessing molecular- pinhole properties. It has been found that dust generation ability of LFCM is intrinsic property thereof with no external factors affecting this. Bulk of radioactive dust forming in the 'Ukrytie' has been evaluated
