Simple routine tests to improve the performance of the DPRSN TLD-based individual monitoring system

  • 1. Istituto Tecnologico e Nuclear, Sacavem (Portugal). Departamento de protecao radiologica e seguranca nuclear

Description

This paper presents some of the results of a simple quality control program developed and implemented at the thermoluminescence sector of the IMS. The European Union (EU) Directive 96/29/EURATOM has not yet been transposed to national legislation and Portuguese law concerning the monitoring of radiation workers still establishes an annual dose limit of 50 mSv. However, new legislation has recently been published with requirements on the performance of dosimetric services. Some of the results of the tests reported herein will show compliance with the above mentioned requirements
