Analytical solution to a classical slowing-down problem

Description

A classical spatially homogeneous, time-dependent, slowing-down problem for test particles, interacting like Maxwellian particles with a fixed background of field particles, is solved analytically. Curves representing the relevant distribution function, as a function of the speed for fixed times, are reported and illustrated on physical grounds. (author)
