Neutral injector using an ion source at the electron cyclotron resonance
Description
The problems connected with the use of an ion source operating at the electron cyclotron resonance to obtain neutral particles from negative ions are studied. Ionization efficiency, beam divergence, ion beam transport in a uniform B field and electron capture of D+ on a narrow alcali target to produce D- are examined. A new project of injector to create 0.3 A of negative ions is presented

On examine les differents problemes poses par l'emploi d'une source d'ion utilisant le principe de la resonance cyclotron electronique pour realiser un injecteur de neutres a partir d'ions negatifs: efficacite d'ionisation, divergence du faisceau a l'extraction, transport du faisceau d'ions dans un champ magnetique et echange de charge sur une cible alcaline locale.
