Demonstration of a multi-purpose incinerating melter system
Description
Chiyoda Corporation will construct a Demonstration Plant of a Multi-Purpose Incinerating Melter System, soon. This paper describes the system which treats a wide variety of radioactive wastes, combustibles and non-combustibles, generated from nuclear facilities. It has been already confirmed from the pilot tests using cold simulated wastes that this system converts a large variety of wastes into a stable, rigid and vitreous product and has an extremely high volume reduction ratio. The hot operation of the Demonstration Plant was scheduled to be started in 1989
