Description

The distribution of electric fields in the high-latitude ionosphere for different conditions was obtained. Investigation into Croshe-type magnetic variations was used. With fully illuminated polar cap the study of the current systems of intensive croshe makes it possible to obtain the approximate global pattern of the distribution of electric fields in the high-latitude ionosphere. Under quiescent conditions in the polar cap, the principal system is the one of meridional electric fields directed north- and southward in the two hemispheres, respectively, at Bsub(γ) > 0 and Bsub(γ) < 0. Under a perturbation of the DP-2, type (Bsub(Z) < 0) the system of electric fields derived from the croshe indicates the Hall nature of the currents, which causes an ordinary DP-2 variation
