Description

Detailed specification of the elemental composition of materials is essential when activation calculations are performed. A systematic optimisation method is described and applied to the impurity composition of a technologically relevant martensitic steel. The activation response can be discussed with the aid of importance diagrams which indicate pictorially the radionuclides most important for particular neutron energies at various decay times.
