Tandem Van de Graaff measurement of 10Be in meteorites

Description
A method of extending the range of determination of exposure ages is the measurement of the specific content of cosmic-ray produced stable rare-gas isotopes which, however, carry no intrinsic time scale. One of the objects of our 10Be measurements is to apply the 10Be time scale to a recalibration of the production rate of 21Ne by comparing specific 21Ne (linear buildup) and 10Be (1-e/sup -lambdat/) measurements on the same meteorite. Another, more speculative interest, is to search for time variations in the galactic cosmic ray flux within the solar system, as might be evidenced by discrepancies between age measurements based on radioisotopes with different half lives
