Drift turbulence and its effect on ion transport in toroidal traps

Description

The influence of drift oscillations on the radial transport of resonance ions with velocities close to the drift-wave phase velocity is demonstrated. - It is shown that the formation of drift-mode pockets and convective cells greatly enhances anomalous transverse plasma diffusion. An increase of drift oscillations above a critical value broadens the oscillation spectrum and creates low-frequency components corresponding to convective cell modes. (author)
