Nuclear fuel element
Description
This invention concerns a nuclear fuel element suitable to higher burn-up degree and it is an object thereof to prevent the elevation of temperature at the center of the pellets. That is, in a nuclear fuel element, laminated cylindrical nuclear fuel pellets are stored in a fuel can and both end of the can are sealed. Fuel pellets each with a central perforation and metal discs each of the identical diameter and identical perforation are alternately stacked to each other such that their perforations are in communication with each other, and a metal rod is inserted into the perforations in communications with each other. Since heat is dissipated through the metal surface of high thermal conductivity in accordance with the temperature slope rapidly to the coolants at the other circumferential portion, elevation of the temperature at the central portion of the fuel pellets during reactor operation can be moderated.
