Discrete control in intramolecular dynamics

  • 1. Dipartimento di Scienze Chimiche dell'Universita di Trieste, Trieste (Italy)

Description

Intramolecular dynamics is normally studied as a function of energy in order to pinpoint the domain of energy where chaotic motion prevails. Mass of the constituent atoms may serve as control parameter of such motion. Intramolecular dynamics of linear triatomic molecules is studied with this point of view. This introduces a discrete control variable in the theory of chaos for first time, the discrete values provided by the isotopic masses of the constituent atoms of a given molecule. (author)
