Interaction of iron-based materials with water and steam. Proceedings

  • 1. Electric Power Research Inst., Palo Alto, CA (United States)
  • 2. Grosskraftwerk Mannheim Aktiengesellschaft (Germany)

Description

The conference was dedicated to fundamental aspects of oxidation, corrosion, erosion, exfoliation, and dissolution of iron-based materials and their oxides in high-purity and contaminated water and steam. Over the last 10 years, effort was expended around the world to develop operating cycle chemistry guidelines for energy systems (fossil, nuclear plants) to provide optimum protection from oxide layers; however high-temperature thermodynamic data are not adequate. In this conference, 35 papers are arranged into 8 sessions: physical chemistry, steam-side oxide growth and exfoliation, monitoring, iron and water, oxide morphology, operational experience, erosion- corrosion, and early condensate. The papers are processed separately for the data base
