Description

Despite the efforts made in the past, including the creation of a unit focusing exclusively on this topic during the eighties, IDB has had only limited success in promoting the efficient use of energy and renewable sources on a small scale. Since 1975, about 50 small-scale and medium-scale renewable energy projects have been financed for a total amount of USD600 million (between 5% and 10% of energy sector loans) and about USD50 million in efficient use of energy.
