X-ray laser photo-pump source based on X-pinch

Description
The use of high-aperture spectrograph with spherical mica crystall permitted to register H- and He-like spectra of Al and Si with high spectra (λ/Δλ∼3000) and spatial (∼30μm) resolution both at the stage of maximal compression and of X-pinch plasma expansion. The electron temperature (up to 950 eV) and density (up to 2x1024 cm-3) are measured in the hot point together with the plasma parameters at the stage of plasma expansion. The energy evaluation showed that the energy of K-lines emission may reach up to 1 J (the power of 1 GW). Total energy of hot point emission for X-pinch plasma was about 1 kJ in the wavelength interval of 0.5-10 nm. So the X-pinch hot point emission may be an effective pump source for active medium of roentgen laser, and recombining plasma expanded from the hot area could itself serve as an active medium for shortwavelength lasers
