Chemistry of the trivalent actinoids
Description
In the absence of oxygen, neptunium(III) is much more stable towards oxidation than uranium(III) in aqueous solutions of complexing agents. Nephelauxetic shifts have been found for both metal ions and used as a guide to complex formation for the tri- and quadri-valent states; those for neptunium are less than those for uranium in each oxidation state. An improved method for the production of NpIII is described.
