Analysis of loss-of-coolant accidents today
Description
The analysis of loss-of-coolant accidents is a basic issue which has always been of great importance in LWR safety research and licensing practice. To confirm the analysis, experiments are still being carried out with electrically heated core mockups of different sizes. At LOFT, a 50 MW plant with a nuclear core is being used in loss-of-coolant experiments for the first time. (orig.)

Die Analyse von Kuehlmittelverlust-Stoerfaellen ist ein zentrales Thema, dem in der Sicherheitsforschung und Genehmigungspraxis fuer Leichtwasserreaktoren immer grosse Bedeutung beigemessen wurde. Fuer die Bestaetigung dieser Analyse werden seit Jahren Experimente in verschiedenen Massstaeben mit elektrisch beheizten Kernsimulatoren durchgefuehrt. Bei LOFT wird erstmals eine 50-MW-Anlage mit nuklearem Kern fuer Kuehlmittelverlustversuche verwendet. (orig.)Additional details
