The Improvement Of Agronomic Character Variabilities Of Melati Plant Thought Induced Mutation Techniques

Description

The research were conducted in the green house and the experiment al field of the Center for Research and Development of Isotopes and Irradiation Technology-Batan at Pasar Jumat, Jakarta from April 1999 to December 2000, The cuttings of melati plants of Emprit variety originated come from Pemalang and Pasuruan and Grand Duke of Tuscany variety were planted in the poly bags prior which were filled with soil and compost fertilizer, and then were irradiated with 2.50 krads, 5.00 krads, 7.50 krads and 10,00 krads of gamma rays, fifteen cuttings of melati plant were used for each treatment. Three months after planting in the poly bags, the number of cutting growths, number of shoots and length of shoot were observed. Twelve months after planting,of irradiated plants those ware cutted and planted again as MV2 plants. The research was designed by Completely Randomized design with three replications and was conducted in factorial experiment. The results shown that irradiation of gamma rays could reduced the number of the growth of cuttings. The optimal doses for irradiation of cuttings Emprit melati Varieties and Grand Duke of Tuscany were between 2.50 -7,50 krads
