A Monte Carlo code for predicting the response of a Ge-NaI(Tl) Compton suppression spectrometer

  • 1. South Carolina Univ., Columbia (USA). Dept. of Physics and Astronomy

Description

A description of a Monte Carlo computer code is given which simulates the response of a Germanium detector inside a NaI(Tl), Compton suppression annulus. The operational flow chart of the main program is discussed as well as the function of each required subprogram. Sample computational results are presented for a 5,44 cm diameter by 4.46 cm long, intrinsic Ge detector placed inside a standard 25,4 cm diameter by 30.5 cm long NaI(Tl) annulus. (orig.)
