Study of transformations of low-alloyed plutonium alloys

Description

Presented are the temperatures of the plutonium metal phase transformations, the crystallographic structures and density of the individual plutonium modifications. An equilibrium diagram is shown for the binary system plutonium-iron and the transformation curve equations are calculated. The validity of the equations applies to the temperature range 479 degC to 462 degC. The calculated epsilon-eta values of the Pu-Fe system transformation curves are listed. The limit value of the equilibrium distribution coefficient of transformation for temperatures approaching 479 degC is 0.331. (J.P.)
