La2Be2O5: Nd laser crystals
Description
The most recently developed alternative to YAG is the compound La2Be2O5, (BEL), a new, commercially available host for Nd3+ and possibly other rare earth ion lasers. BEL offers certain advantages over YAG in the areas of material synthesis, device fabrication and laser system performance in certain applications. Its properties, synthesis and potential applications are discussed
