Orano Bessines-sur-Gartempe
Description
Until 2001, date of the closure of the last French uranium mine, the main activities of the Orano Bessines-sur-Gartempe site (Haute-Vienne, France) were devoted to uranium extraction and processing. Since then, the site has diversified its activities towards new uranium extraction processes (Innovation centre for extractive metallurgy), the production of radiopharmaceuticals (Maurice Tubiana lab), the management and monitoring of abandoned uranium mine sites, the storage of depleted uranium and the creation of an uranium mining museum (Ureka museum)
