The Underground Research Laboratory at Whiteshell
Description
In a remote area approximately 100 kilometers northeast of Winnipeg, Manitoba, an Underground Research Laboratory (URL) is being developed by Atomic Energy of Canada Ltd. The laboratory will allow scientists to assess methods for safe disposal of nuclear fuel wastes in similar vaults elsewhere in Canada. The URL will be used only for research, and radioactive materials will not be used in the experiments
