Fabrication of 91K superconducting coils

  • 1. AT and T Bell Labs., Murray Hill, NJ

Description

The recent discovery of high temperature superconductivity in La(Ba,Sr)-Cu oxides and Ba-Y-Cu oxides has stimulated worldwide research activity. The excitement in the scientific and engineering community is created by this advance in superconductivity due in part to the potentially immense technological impact of the superconducting materials that do not require liquid He refrigeration. Applications currently considered in this report include power transmission lines, rotating machinery, superconducting magnets for fusion reactors, MHD generators, particle accelerators, and junction devices
