Artificial radionuclides in the atmosphere (Vilnius, 1963-1995)
Description
Experimental data on the artificial radionuclides concentration course in the ground level air in Vilnius in 1963-1996 are given. The highest concentration of 131I (45.2 Bq/m3), 103Ru (20.3 Bq/m3) and 137Cs (27.9 Bq/m3) were observed after the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant accident on 28-30 April 1986. In Preila (the Curonian Spit, a seaside of Lithuania) concentrations of these radionuclides were 2-3 times higher. Considerably high 137Cs concentration was registered also in August-September 1992 (up to 300 μBq/m3) and in April 1996 (up to 250 μBq/m3) after great fires of forests and peat bogs in Byelarus
