Description

In terms of the semi-classical deflection function THETA(l), we studied, the elastic scattering features of 16O + 16O. THETA(l) corresponding to McVoy's modified smooth cut-off model, is taken as a superposition of a background (smooth cut-off) part THETAsub(B)(l), and a resonance (pole-zero) part THETAsub(P)(l). THETAsub(B)(l), THETAsub(P)(l) are found to be strongly dependent on their corresponding pole positions. THETAsub(B)(l) alone can acquire significant contribution on the backward elastic scattering of 16O + 16O when its corresponding pole position is nearer to physical region than is the explicit pole corresponding to THETAsub(P)(l). A smooth variation of vertical stroke S(l) vertical stroke as a function of l, without pole-zero factor, i.e. without a dip in vertical stroke S(l) vertical stroke at l = L, is sufficient to describe foreward as well as backward elastic scattering of 16O + 16O.
