High-spin resonances in heavy ion collisions. New nuclear structure in the continuum
Description
Excitation functions and angular distributions for elastic scattering and reactions of nuclei such as 28Si + 28Si and 24Mg + 24Mg show evidence for the formation of long-lived resonances. The speculation that these resonances may correspond to something akin to high-spin fissioning shape isomers is discussed. (author)
